Title: Ukrainian Terminographic Criticism of the 1930s

Rubric: Term in the Text
Abstract: The features of the development of Ukrainian terminographic criticism as an independent scientific direction during the 30s of the XXth century are revealed. It is established that the said decade of the progress of terminography and its criticism is marked by the development of the fight against vandalism on the language front in general and in the field of terminology in particular, as well as its implementation through a devastating assessment in reviews of terminological dictionaries.
It is found out that in the conditions of the political course of denationalization and persecution, the development of Ukrainian terminographic criticism was slow and chaotic. It is revealed that its new tasks and pseudoscientific principles were aimed at the purposeful cleansing of national roots in Ukrainian terminology, and the tendencies were aimed at exposing “ideological perversion”, “destruction” in dictionaries, and accordingly, the absolutization of the dominance of the Russian language and the leveling of previously developed principles of evaluating this type of work.
It is observed that among few reviews of terminological dictionaries, there were mainly “devastating” one-person, extensive, mono- and poly-reviews, partly with signs of a popular scientific style.
Keywords: assessment, review, terminographic criticism, terminography, terminological dictionary, terminology.
