Title: INNOVATIVE PROCESSES IN MODERN UKRAINIAN TERMINOLOGY

Rubric: SOCIO-POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC TERMINOLOGY

Language: Ukrainian

Abstract: The article deals with new words that appeared in the Ukrainian vocabulary in the last decades of the ХХІ century. The terminology concept includes today’s professionalisms, professional jargon, and slang words, which can acquire the status of a term or can  remain words of a specific time or historical period. Such vocabulary can be divided into lexemes formed both on a national basis and on a  foreign language basis. These are words of mostly Anglo-American origin, which have penetrated into all areas of our lives in recent years. Innovations attract the attention of many researchers who describe them from different positions, from different perspectives and on the  material of texts of varying language styles.
Innovative processes in language that accompany our reality are highly diverse. Some lexemes have their specific author. These are neonyms.  Others are created from words available in the language with the help of suffixes and basic compounds. Still others – in a
semantic way, completely changing the word’s meaning. A separate group of new words is made up of borrowings, which, unfortunately, do  not enrich our language. On the contrary, they make it difficult to understand and perceive, since they have their national counterparts.
They remain available to a narrow circle of specialists who use them within the framework of their profession.
The beginning of this millennium for Ukraine was marked by two Maidans, military actions that lasted for nine years, reflected in the  language. Modern common language and terminological dictionaries do not contain such words. However, some of them were reflected
in special lexicographic works of new words and terms.

Keywords: terminology, professionalisms, professional jargonisms, neonyms, neologisms, Anglo-Americanisms, innovation processes,  Ukrainian language.
